Evergreens are one of the best plants grown in containers and pots. They are easy to grow and maintain and bring color and life to the garden. Evergreens keep their leaves all year round and are suitable for pots. These pots will keep the evergreens from getting too big and make moving them more accessible. Here are evergreen plants for pots that can brighten up the garden or home throughout the year. Geraniums are perennials grown as decorative plants for thousands of years. These beautiful flowers offer many varieties ranging from shades of pink, red, orange, purple, white, yellow, and cream.

The first thing that strikes you about geraniums is their scent. Their scent comes from the essential oils in the leaves, stems, and seeds. In the garden, geraniums are most commonly planted on borders or mixed with other flowerbeds and annuals. The best time to start geraniums indoors is in spring. Impatiens are tropical herbaceous plants that produce masses of colorful blooms throughout the summer. Impatiens are prized for their long-lasting colors and low maintenance requirements. Impatiens are classified under the family Liliaceae, meaning they belong to the Lily genus. Impatiens come in a wide range of colors that include pastels, blues, purples, oranges, yellows, pinks, reds, and whites.

However, the variations between their various cultivars are impatiens’ true beauty. As a result, a single impatiens plant may bear dozens of blossoms at once. Pelargoniums are evergreen shrubs that get their name from the Greek word Pelargos, meaning “to sail.” Unlike most other plants, pelargoniums don’t have any real roots. Instead, they use short shoots called rhizomes, which allow them to spread rapidly. Because pelargoniums can take heart in almost anything, they are perfect for use as groundcovers. Their leaves remain green all year, even though some varieties change color during colder seasons. Popular pelargonium varieties include ‘Fairy Dust,’ ‘Giant Gem’, and ‘Jubilee.’
