Obnoxious is a term unknown to Ubisoft. They have perfected the art of adventure video games and yet they keep going. As if Assassin’s Creed Odyssey had not created enough havoc already, the developers are about to drop another bomb on their competitors. Ubisoft has finally confirmed that the latest title in the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, is under development.

When Does it Come Out?

The exact dates about the release of this hyped-up title are not yet revealed by the developers, however, what we do know is that the upcoming Holiday Season is not going to be a sane one!

The game is coming out on all major platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Google Stadia, and PC. The PC version of the game will be made available through the stores of Epic Games and Ubisoft itself, and for the Xbox fanatics, the game will come standard with Smart Delivery service.

What Lies at the Centre?

Eivor will be the leader of the Vikings and he will be controlled by you. You will have an option to choose a female or a male leader to the clan, how cool is that? Other than that, there will be several customizations available for your commander in chief. You will be given plenty to dress up your character in all kinds of hair, tattoos, clothing, gear, and war paint.

As far as the story is concerned, you are leading a pack of Vikings, all the way from Norway, to settle in the rusty ruins of England. The locals will have the least respect for you, and you will face a lot of resistance at the hands of Saxons and King Alfred of Wessex. There will be far more villains than these, but these are all that we know of up till now.

The basic purpose of the game will be building a civilization, and this aspect of the game sets it apart from all other Assassin’s Creed titles. You will often find yourself returning to your land after roaming the vast open-world. You will go through all the troubles in the game just for the sake of keeping your community safe and growing. There will be politics, there will be bloodshed, there will be war, but your civilization shall not stop growing.

To have you motivated to keep returning to your civilization, the developers will add a few interesting side quests that would only be accessed once you are inside your community. The quests that we know of so far are hunting, fishing, dice games, and flyting. Well, what’s a Viking civilization without flyting?

The game is not just battle oriented and the politics will play a huge role in the establishment of your new home. The game is being developed with new combat tactics. It will require more effort from you, and it will definitely demand more precision. The game is set in the 9th century, hence the battles will be fought with dual-wielded axes, swords, and shields.

The whole structure of the game has been changed. Up till now, the players found it useless to head back to the areas they have already explored. The game was never centered at a point, however, this time the game will revolve around you and your civilization alone. All the actions you take will have consequences on your civilization and thus, the entirety of your gameplay.

A Trip Down the Memory Lane

For those of you who may not know, the legends have it that the Assassin’s Creed series was thought of as a successor to Prince of Persia. The basic story revolves around two groups, the protagonists being Assassins and the villains being Knights Templar. All Assassin’s Creeds come with an open-world setting and a third-person gameplay. Each of the titles in the series comes with its own set of stories, set in different periods. So far, we have had quite a fun with Desmond Miles, let’s see how things roll out with Eivor.

With all the information available at the moment, it does not seem like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is related to any of the prior titles in any way possible. The previous titles have also seen the multiplayer modes, and our fingers stay crossed for the upcoming one.

Pre-orders

As soon as the game was announced last Thursday, we were also given a list of all the editions that are made available for the pre-order.

The Gold edition is the most basic and the cheapest one out in the market. It is for the Assassin’s Creed fans who just want to get hold of the Vikings and get building, irrespective of what else the developers have to offer. This edition would only include the game and a season pass.

If you are down for spending some extra bucks to get hold of a few special in-game customizations, you might want to consider opting for the Ultimate edition.

In case you have more extra cash lying around and want the best experience out of your new Assassin’s Creed, the Collector’s edition stays the best choice for you.

What to Make Out of the Trailer?

Valhalla’s trailer is here and if you already haven’t seen it, you’re doing yourself bad. It’s enough to give you goosebumps.

What we could extract out of the trailer was that the Vikings love their leader and are ready to follow you into the battle wherever, whenever. However, as ferocious as they might seem, they still have humanity inside of them and they are only after the people who are a danger to them. Not just this, but they are also proud of their heritage. The setting of the trailer seemed…scenic, just what you would expect from a game that is set in the 9th century. Not only does the Viking civilization fight against the Templars, but there’s also this fight sequence where the protagonist goes one on one against the champion of the opposing army. It reminds you of the fight scene between Achilles and Boagrius from the famous movie, Troy.

The upcoming Assassin’s Creed is something no one has ever seen, and never experienced before. According to the developers, the game has been restructured. Stay put for one of the most amazing Holiday Seasons you will ever have!
