It’s bigger, it’s meaner, its more thrilling, and most importantly it is just better from any angle you decide to look at it. Activision and Vicarious Visions have joined hands to bring back one of the most iconic titles of the original PlayStation. Tony Hawk’s Pro 1 and 2 Skater is expected to be out in the stores in early September, this year.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater has come a long way from its glitchy gameplay and pixelated graphics. The latest remake of the first two titles in the series seems to have received a complete graphical overhaul. The featured skaters seem realistic than ever, and the skating parks seem to have a more inviting feel to them. Talking of the soundtracks, the game will be bringing back the bangers from the original title, only that they are better and could be played through more advanced, recent era sound systems. However, owing to some copyright issues, a few of the soundtracks had to be dropped.

If we talk about the prominent names that we will get to see in the game, well for that you will have to take a look at the skate boarding’s hall of fame of the 21st century. They are all there, and of course the legend, Tony Hawk, himself. These players have learned a lot in the last two decades since the game made its first debut, and they will all be coming in, full of energy, with their best combos and other thrilling moves. The only question is, are you skilled enough to take on those moves?

Remember the days, when you used to craft your own dream park, and create your own favorite character? Well buckle up for this one, because not only are those features back for the remake, but there are many more new customizations available as well.

Trying to make your skateboarding as nostalgic as possible, a few old levels have returned to the remake as well and you will often find yourself landing Tony Hawk’s legendary 900, in your favorite Warehouse. The game is also expected to have a few newer skateboarding parks as well to notch up your gameplay experience a bit.

You will be able to showcase your skills in solo gameplay, or you can go nuts with your friends in either local or multiplayer co-op gameplay.

The developers are going ahead and merging two of the titles in a single game and this has created a hue of confusion. Will we be completing the first title before we could jump on to the second one? Well, seems like this is not the case and you can dip in and out of both the titles as per your liking.

Verdict

The game has kept the original virtue of the games in the remake, and only a few changes have been made in terms of stages and characters. Let’s hope the game lives up to the hype when it comes out on 4th September, and provides a pure skating simulation from the comfort of your couch. As the legend said himself, skateboarding is an art, it’s a lifestyle, and most importantly it’s a sport.
