Scarlett Johanson is joining the many celebrities launching their own beauty brands. She will be launching a minimalist skincare brand called The Outset. This isn’t the first time Johanssen has stepped foot in the beauty industry. She has been the face of numerous luxury beauty brands, so this seemed like the next big step for her. When describing her upcoming brand, Johanson says, “the vision for The Outset was to create clean and effective products that simplify your routine and elevate your every day. I want The Outset to be universal, approachable, and as reliable as your favorite white tee — a classic staple.”
While she may be famous for her part in Marvel, she is shifting gears with skincare. Johannsen said, “After representing other brands as a character in their campaigns, I wanted to build a brand that was reflective of me and my beauty ideals. Because I have spent so much of my life in front of the camera, I’m acutely aware of how much my skin is linked to my confidence. There are so many brands and formulas and harsh ingredients, but for me, the simpler, the better. Finding freedom in the uncomplicated was something I wanted to make available to everyone.” She wanted to create reliable, high-quality skincare that would also be affordable. The Outset is fragrance-free, vegan, gluten-free, nut and allergen-free, and dermatologist tested. So far, the brand includes a cleanser, vegan collagen serum, squalane moisturizer, niacinamide night cream, Vitamin C eye cream, and a lip rescue treatment.
