Whether or not you’ve been into the politically-oriented “cold open” sketches this season on SNL, this latest batch of eps has had a lot to offer in the way of excellent guest hosts and just Pete Davidson being absolutely delightful. This was true this weekend with Timothee Chalamet on board as Saturday Night Live’s host and he presented an unforgettable monologue, telling an old school tale about Chris Farley and … his mom.

Apparently, back in the day, you may have seen Timothee Chalamet as an extra in popular SNL sketches. In one memorable bit, Chris Farley and Dana Carvey were doing their thing and the former nearly spit on Timothee Chalamet’s mom.

Before I was born, my mom was a dance teacher, but on occasion she would do background work on Saturday Night Live. In fact, we have a clip of her in a Dana Carvey and Chris Farley sketch, ‘Massive Headwound Harry.’ That’s my mom. She almost got spit on by Chris Farley. She’s the reason I’m alive, she’s the reason I have an acting career. Mom, I love you.

The monologue in full was actually pretty great. The powers that be at Saturday Night Live actually went out of their way to find the footage of Chalamet’s mom being near enough to almost get nailed by a Farley food projectile. She was also in the audience for her famous son’s SNL debut which was fun to see. You can check it out in full below.

Meanwhile, if you stuck around past the monologue-y part of the monologue, Timothee Chalamet also hopped over to the piano to pursue a duet with fellow New Yorker Pete Davidson. Both spent time joking about their respective New York neighborhoods around the holidays, some of which might be a little inside baseball for those who don’t live in New York. However, what was clear was that Pete Davidson and Timothee Chalamet were a great match-up, which continued through the episode as well.

Timothee Chalamet and Pete Davidson later both popped up in a fun sketch where they played Harry Styles and Machine Gun Kelly respectively.

In short, it seems as if Timothee Chalamet had a blast and it’s great that he was able to tie her into his first big foray onto SNL. His mom Nicole Flender has always been supportive of his career. He’s actually taken her with him to several big awards shows — including the Golden Globes — and has talked about her kid “coming so far from the first Disney commercial he did.” Now, that he’s marked off another milestone, it’s only fitting that she was there. Plus, it’s always nice to hear a new Chris Farley story.
